37 inmates regain freedom in Kano

The Kano State Chief Judge, Justice Dije Abdu-Aboki, has set 37 inmates free from the Goron Dutse and Medium Security Custodial Centre,Kano, as part of efforts to decongest Custodial Centres in the State.

This is contained in a statement issued to newsmen by the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) Kano State Command Public Relations Officer, SC Musbahu Kafar-Nassarawa, on Monday in Kano.

The statement said Abdu-Aboki released the inmates based on health ground and long stay in custodial center without trials and no case file.

The Chief Judge urged the released inmates to be of good behavior and to refrain from any misconduct that may bring them back into the Crime.

“She gave the freed inmates N10,000 each for transporty” the statement added

The Controller of Corrections, Kano State Command, Mr. Ado Inuwa, commended Chief Judge for her efforts in jail delivery and her kind gesture in releasing some inmates based on their long stay and ill health.
