Man, 66, docked for allegedly poisoning cow to death

A 66-year-old Tirimisiyu Lamidi, was on Monday docked in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court Ibadan, for allegedly poisoning a cow belonging to another man to death.

Lamidi, whose address was not provided, was charged with conduct likely to cause the breach of peace and cruelty.

He however pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Elisha Tellang told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Nov. 30, 2025, at about 5:30 p.m., at Atoda village, Ido, Ibadan.

Tellang said that the defendant killed one female cow worth N2 million, belonging to one Muhammed Isiaka.

He explained that the defendant injected poisonous substance in the feed of the cow and threw it on its route and after the animal ate the feed it died.

He said the offences contravene provisions of sessions 249(d) and 495(f) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Moyosore Atanda granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200, 000 and two reliable sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until Feb.5, for hearing.
