The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, north east zone (Zone E), has directed all its structures across the North-East to embark on a peaceful solidarity demonstration over the abduction of 42 students from Government Day Secondary School, Mussa, in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.
In a press statement issued to our correspondent on Wednesday in Yobe, the zonal coordinator of the students’ body, Muazu Hina, said the demonstration would hold simultaneously across all North-East states from June 5 to June 7, 2026.
The states listed for the protest are: Yobe, Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa and Taraba.
He said the action is aimed at drawing attention to the plight of the abducted students, expressing solidarity with their families, and urging the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify rescue efforts.
“We also urge the Federal Government to strengthen security measures in all educational institutions across the country to safeguard students and ensure that schools remain safe environments for learning,” the statements reads.
He directed all NANS structures, Joint Campus Committee leadership, SUG executives, delegates and stakeholders to mobilise responsibly and conduct themselves peacefully and lawfully throughout the exercise.
According to him, the abduction of students has continued to raise concerns over safety in schools, calling for stronger measures to prevent attacks on educational institutions.
