The Assistant Director-General, Operations, of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) Campaign Council in Bauchi State, Hon. Muhammad Maiwada Bello, has described the APM as the biggest political party in the state.
Speaking with journalists on Wednesday, Maiwada said the party is gaining increasing acceptance among eligible voters ahead of the 2027 general elections in the state.
Maiwada, who is also the Bauchi State Commissioner for Natural Resources Development, attributed the party’s “growing strength” to the calibre of political leaders within its ranks and what he described as its expanding acceptance across the state.
The commissioner particularly highlighted the political importance of Governor Bala Mohammed, who is seeking election to represent Bauchi South Senatorial District under the APM in the 2027 elections.
He said the governor’s political experience, grassroots connections and leadership record had further strengthened the party’s profile in Bauchi, describing his movement to the Senate as part of a broader political strategy to continue contributing to the development of the state.
Speaking on the party’s governorship ambition, Maiwada also highlighted the candidacy of Dr. Yakubu Adamu, the APM governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
He described Adamu as a key figure in the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed and said his experience, particularly his service as Commissioner for Finance, places him in a position to understand and sustain the administration’s development agenda.
According to him, Dr. Adamu is a candidate with knowledge of the state’s governance and economic affairs, stressing that his involvement in the present administration gives him an understanding of its policies, programmes and development priorities.
He said the APM’s governorship campaign would present Adamu to voters as a candidate seeking to build on the existing development agenda while bringing his own experience and priorities to the governance of the state.
“The APM’s political structure extends beyond the ambitions of the governor and its governorship candidate,.
“The party was positioning itself to mobilise supporters and present its candidates to voters using a development-focused political campaign”, he said.
He further praised the national leadership of the party under Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, the National Chairman of the APM.
Maiwada said Dantalle’s leadership had contributed to the party’s visibility and organisational development at the national level.
He also noted that Dantalle serves as Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), a body representing registered political parties in Nigeria, describing the position as an indication of the APM’s role within the country’s multiparty political system.
Maiwada expressed confidence that the APM would continue to expand its political structures and attract more supporters as the 2027 elections draw closer.
