Adhama’ emerged as first female physiotherapists chairperson in Kano

Following the end tenure of highly successful tenure of Professor,, Bashir Kaka, the Members of the Nigerian Society of Physiotherapy (NSP), Kano Branch, have elected Dr. Aysha Idris Adhama led new Executive Committee to pilot the Branch’s affairs for the year 2025/2027

Dr. Adhama is a Deputy Director of the Department of Physiotherapy at Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu Pediatrics Hospital.

Adhama’ s election made her to become the first female chairperson of the association in Northern part of the country.

The newly elected leadership team consists of dedicated and committed individuals with mandate to further the goals of the society. They were elected following the Branch Annual General meeting held at the Association’s Secretariat in Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.

Steering the branch as the elected Chairperson is Dr. Aysha Adhama, supporting her in the role of Vice Chairman is Dr. Muhammad Aliyu Abba. For the position of Secretary General, Dr. Huzaifa Shehu Imam was elected with Dr. Hafsat Hussein elected as the Assistant General Secretary.

To Manage the financial affairs of the Branch for accountability, Dr. Farida Abubakar was elected as Treasurer, and Dr. Usman Abubakar was elected as financial secretary. And Dr. Dauda Muhammad Dan Arewa was elected as Auditor.

Others are Dr. Bashir Bello Gaya was elected as Publicity Secretary, while Dr. Hauwa Abubakar was elected as welfare to provide their expertise and support for the new administration.

The newly elected executive council is expected to continue the positive work of previous leaders and spearhead initiatives focused on , professional growth, and community involvement within the Kano state for the tenure of three years.

In her acceptance speech, Dr. Adhama expressed profound humility and gratitude for being trusted to lead the Branch.

She acknowledged the confidence and responsibility placed in her by her esteemed colleagues and fellow Physiotherapists.
