
An Area Court in Jos on Tuesday, sentenced one Sale Abdullahi, a bus conductor, to two years imprisonment for stealing 18 aluminum window frames valued at N850,000.
The Judge, Mrs Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the offences.
The judge, however gave the convict an option of N50, 000 fine and ordered him to pay N500,000 restitution to the complainant.
Bokkos said that failure of the convict to pay the fine and restittution would result in him spending 24 months in jail.
Earlier, the police prosecutor, Insp Ijuptil Daniel, told the court that the case was reported at the B Division police station, on March 9, by Mrs Saratu Gambo.
He said that Gambo reported that the convict trespassed into PSUBEB school in Bukuru and stole 18 aluminum windows valued at N850,000.
The prosecutor further told the court that during police investigation, the accused person confessed to commission of the offences.
The offences, he said, contravened the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria.
