The All Progressives Congress (APC), Kano State Chapter, has rejected allegations by a faction of the New Nigeria Peoples Party(NNPP) linking the party to a reported disturbance in Ruwan Bago Ward of Rogo Local Government Area of Kano State.
The APC described the allegations as baseless and an attempt to drag the party into what it called the internal crisis within the NNPP.
The party’s Publicity Secretary in the state, Auwalu Soja-Gwale, stated this in a statement issued on Monday in Kano.
He said the APC remained a law-abiding political organisation committed to peaceful democratic engagement and respectful political competition.
“At no time has the APC sanctioned or encouraged violence against members of any political party,” he said.
He added that the party found it curious that the NNPP, instead of addressing what it described as growing internal tensions arising from defections and political realignments within its ranks, chose to accuse the APC without credible evidence.
The APC spokesman, however, expressed support for calls for a thorough and impartial investigation by relevant security agencies into the reported incident.
According to him, anyone found culpable should face the full weight of the law regardless of political affiliation.
Gwale noted that Kano State was known for its rich democratic culture, adding that political disagreements should not degenerate into violence or unfounded accusations capable of inflaming tensions among supporters.
He urged political actors to exercise restraint, promote civility and avoid dragging innocent parties into matters that might stem from internal disagreements.
Gwale said the APC remained focused on strengthening its structures across the state in preparation to provide credible leadership in line with the state’s development priorities and the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
