The Wife of the Kano State Governor, Hajiya Maryam Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commended the Renewed Hope Initiative on Agricultural Transformation for Women and Youth, launched by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Kano State Ministry of Women Affairs, Children and People with Special Needs, Bintu Nuhu Yakasai, on Monday in Kano.
According to the statement, the First Lady, represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Children and People with Special Needs, Amb. Hajiya Amina Abdullahi Sani, described the initiative as a welcome and timely effort aimed at strengthening national food security and reducing youth unemployment.
She reaffirmed the commitment of the Kano State Government, under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, to agricultural transformation, particularly as a tool for empowering women and youth.
Yusuf noted that agriculture remains one of the most strategic pillars for sustainable development in the state.
The ministry also expressed readiness to collaborate with relevant partners to ensure the successful implementation of the initiative in Kano, highlighting ongoing efforts to create enabling opportunities in agribusiness, innovation, and rural development.
The statement added that the Renewed Hope Initiative, championed by Senator Oluremi Tinubu, aims to empower women and youth through access to agricultural inputs, training, and value chain support, positioning them at the forefront of Nigeria’s agricultural revival.
