The Kano State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, has ordered a thorough investigation into the mysterious deaths of two Students at Government Boarding Secondary School Bichi, Hamza Idris Tofawa and Umar Yusuf Dungurawa who allegedly being attacked by fellow Students using local metal objects known as “Gwale-Gwale.”
Speaking through the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Bashir Baffa Muhammad, the Commissioner assured that the Kano State Government will with immediate effect conduct a fair and transparent investigation, promising that justice will be served for all parties involved.
It has been reported that the brutal act followed a decision taken by the senior students to treat the deceased as punishment for allegedly commiting an offence.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Alhaji Bashir Baffa Muhammed who visited the school cautioned students to be vigilant and avoid taking law into their hands.
” You should avoid taking law in to your hands but rather make sure you report any matter of concern to the school authority for appropriate action” the Permanent Secretary cautioned.
He also sympathized with deceased, their families and other relatives, adding that … ” On behalf of the Kano State Government, Ministry of Education and good people of Kano State we extend our condolences to the family of the deceased and pray for Almighty Allah to grant their souls jannatul Firdaus”.
In his remarks, the Director of the Secondary School Kano State Senior Secondary School Management Board Abbas Abdullahi, expressed deep concern over the incident, emphasiing that students must not misuse their privileges and take the law into their own hands.
A relative of one of the deceased, Malam Ibrahim Yusuf Dungurawa, narrated how the family received the news of the incident and called on the government to ensure justice is done.
On his part, Malam Idris Garba Tofawa, the father of the second deceased student, said they have accepted the tragedy as the will of God but pleaded with authorities to take appropriate action and ensure that justice prevails.
Kano State Government has promised to leave no stone unturned in uncovering the truth behind the tragic incident.
