The Kano State Government has expressed readiness to partner with Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN) to promote academic excellence and strengthen educational development across the state.
This is contained in a statement by the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, on Monday in Kano.
The Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, who also serves as Commissioner for Higher Education, made this known while receiving a delegation from the university led by its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdul Rashid Garba, in his office.
Gwarzo commended the management of KHAIRUN for complementing government efforts in improving the education sector, assuring that the state would carefully study the recommendations presented by the university on implementing the recently declared State of Emergency on Education.
He said the government would also consider sponsoring scholarship students to study at KHAIRUN as part of a sustainable collaboration aimed at human capital development.
The Deputy Governor lauded the Vice-Chancellor’s initiative on the 30-70 formula in education planning, describing it as a step toward bridging existing gaps in the learning system.
He further commended the university’s innovative drive and commitment to realizing the vision of its founder.
In his remarks, Prof. Garba said the visit was to pay homage to the state leadership and explore areas of partnership in advancing education in Kano.
He disclosed that KHAIRUN recently organized a follow-up seminar to assess the government’s education reforms from early childhood to tertiary level, which produced key recommendations.
According to him, the recommendations included the need for a legal framework to guide policy implementation and the formation of a committee comprising education practitioners to oversee execution at all levels.
The Vice-Chancellor thanked the state government for its support, describing the engagement as encouraging and a step toward fostering stronger collaboration for educational advancement in the state.
