The Mangal Foundation says it has begun repairs, maintenance and sanitation exercise of seven cemeteries in Katsina metropolis.
Malam Hussaini Kabir, a member of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, stated this at the inauguration of the exercise at the Old Danmarna Graveyard, on Wednesday in Katsina.
He said the foundation has set aside a reasonable amount of money, and provided herbicides, Knapsack sprayers, wheel barrows and rain boots, to facilitate smooth conduct of the exercise during every rainy season.
Kabir listed the benefitting cemeteries to include new and old Danmarna; old and new Dantakun, Abattoir, Medical centre and Rimin Badawa.
He said the foundation planned to expand the scope of the exercise to cover more cemeteries in the state.
“The foundation has assured that any time the need for anything related to repairs of the graveyards and other needs arise, we should be contacted for immediate response.
“We are hoping that in the future we can also go beyond the graveyards within the town to those outside the metropolis.
“During the sanitation exercise, which commenced today, the committee will ensure that any grave and drain that needs repair will be attended to,” he said.
Also, Musa Lawal-Masanawa, a member of the Katsina Local Government Committee for Cemetery Maintenance, commended the gesture, and prayed God Almighty to reward the sponsors.
He said the foundation was initiated to support the development of the people and communities.
