The Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) in Kano State said it received 1,444 complaints from January to December 2025.
The Commander of the Kano command, Abdullahi Al’ameen, disclosed this in a statement signed by the service Public Relations Officer, Malam Usman Umar, on Thursday in Kano.
He stated that “most of the cases reported were on animal theft, banditry, kidnapping, motorcycle theft, debits mandate, including prevention, detection of crimes and illegal activities perpetrated in the forests.
“Some other cases were on bush burning, cattle rustling, car theft, deforestation, motorcycle and tricycle theft, house and shop breaking, thuggery, robbery.
“We will partner with relevant stakeholders on community policing.”
He revealed that out of the 1,444 complainants, 966 had been treated, while 478 were pending in court.
Al’ameen emphasised that the NFSS would re-train its personnel on leadership training and intelligent gathering this year.
He noted that the training would help personnel to know what to do in the forest, and also gather relevant information on armed robbers, thieves, among others.
The commander said NFSS would continue to secure and make forest free crime zones.
He urged the public to report criminal activities happening in their communities and surrounding.
