Over three hundred secondary schools are set to compete in both the boys’ and girls’ categories of this year’s Kano State preliminaries of the Nestlé Milo Basketball Championship at Sani Abacha Sports Complex, Kofar Mata, Kano.
According to the program released by the Nigerian School Sports Federation (NSSF), led by Mrs. Olabisi Joseph, the lined-up basketball activities include the state final from March 22nd to 27th, 2025, the conference finals from May 2nd to June 4th, 2025, while the national final will take place in Lagos from June 20th to June 27th, 2025.
The eventual winners of the preliminaries in both boys and girls categories will automatically represent the state in the forthcoming Savannah basketball Conference scheduled to hold at the Indoor Sports Hall of Sani Abacha Sports complex Kofar Mata, Kano in May, 2025.
The states expected to compete in the Savannah Conference include Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, Jigawa, Zamfara, Katsina, Taraba, Yobe and the host state Kano.
Speaking, Kano state director of sports in the state ministry of education, Malam Ibrahim Bello said that arrangements are in top gear towards the success of the state preliminaries which is expected to commence tomorrow at the outdoor basketball courts, Kofar Mata, Kano.
Malam Ibrahim Bello charged the participants schools to give the organisers all maximum support and cooperation towards a hitch free tournament.
While commending the state Commissioner of education, Dr. Gwani Ali Haruna Makoda for his support, he assured that the sports section of the ministry will continue to it’s best towards the overall development of various sporting activities in the state and the country at large.
