PCC trains North-West staff on investigative reporting, documentation 

The Public Complaints Commission (PCC), Nigeria’s Ombudsman, has trained its staff from the North-West geopolitical zone to enhance their competencies in interview techniques, mediation and advanced investigative reporting.

Declaring the training open, the Federal Commissioner for Kano State, Hon. Ibrahim Zakari-Sarina, said the capacity-building initiative was part of the Commission’s efforts to improve professionalism and strengthen service delivery.

Zakari-Sarina, represented by the PCC Acting State Director of Investigation, Malam Idris Ahmad-Muhammad, said continuous training was essential to ensuring effective documentation, thorough investigation and improved accountability in handling public complaints.

He reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to regular staff development, noting that improved capacity would translate into faster complaint resolution, better documentation, greater transparency and enhanced public confidence in PCC services.

The two-day training features sessions on standard interview procedures, mediation and conflict resolution, investigative reporting and documentation techniques, ethical conduct and practical case-study analysis.

Participants drawn from PCC offices across the North-West expressed appreciation for the opportunity to improve their skills, noting that the training would boost their efficiency in case handling, report writing and mediation outcomes.

Resource persons at the training included Dr. Halima Abdullahi Baba, who presented papers on “Prevention, Risk mitigation and Institutional Reforms in Public Service”. “Ethics”, Understanding Corruption, Misconduct and Abuse of Office “

Also Dr Sheriff Alade-Bamidele, presented a paper titled “A Comprehensive Guide to Investigation Planning and Management in the Public Service”.
Alade-Bamidele emphasised that well-planned investigations promote fairness, accountability and integrity in public administration.
