The Restore Fagge Community on Wednesday presented a merit award to the Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Strategic Command, ACGN A.I. Ahmad, in recognition of the command’s sustained fight against drug trafficking in the area.
The award ceremony followed months of coordinated operations by the command which led to seizures of illicit substances and arrests of suspected drug dealers operating within Fagge and its environs.
Speaking during the event, the head of Fagge B Ward, Malam Nura Ubali, who led the delegation, commended the NDLEA for its impact on public safety and community well-being.
“We are grateful to ACGN Ahmad and his team for their relentless efforts to rid our community of drugs and the crimes that come with them.
“Their operations have not only removed dangerous substances from our neighbourhood but also pressured dealers to desist. Some individuals have even repented,” Ubali said.
He assured that the community would continue to work with the agency in rehabilitating and reintegrating those willing to abandon drug-related activities.
In his response, Ahmad, who accepted the award on behalf of the NDLEA Kano Strategic Command, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to enforcement, and community engagement.
“We appreciate the recognition and value the partnership with local stakeholders. Effective drug law enforcement depends on cooperation between authorities and communities. We will sustain our operations, target criminal networks and support rehabilitation and reintegration where appropriate ” he said.
