2026: Taraba Poly ASUP Chair vows to protect rights, privileges of  members

By Andrew Ojih,  Jalingo.

The Chairman, Taraba state chapter of the Academic staff union of Polytechnics ASUP, Bala Albert Sule Ph.D Thursday said he would protect the rights and privileges of all ASUP members.

Bala in his new year message to members hinted that transparency, accountability, providing regular update of ASUP activities among others will be his leadership style.

He stressed that ASUP would strive hard to this year 2026  to reposition and restore the lost glory of the Union.

“We will work hard in our Chapter so that those that those who will  succeed us,would clearly understand that leadership goes with responsibilities, sacrifice and commitment and not occupying office for fancy and fashion.

He urged members to this new year cultivate habits of attending lectures, shun acts that are unhealthy, especially negotiations for marks and extortion of students.

“We must obey the rules, laws and regulations of the Polytechnic, as ASUP, under my watch, will not back nor support actions or behaviours, that are inimical in nature.

It is very necessary to note  that no member is allowed to take laws into his/her hands. All academic disputes should be addressed using the appropriate channels and where agreements are not reached, the Union can then be contacted for amicable resolutions” he noted.

According to him, ASUP leadership is every ready to work in harmony and understanding with  Management to achieve targetted goals.

“It is in this angle that I am calling on the Management to always involve and dialogue with the Union in all academic issues, so that the lofty goals of our institution can be achieved with ease.

“We are partners in progress not enemies and we cannot be enemies under any guise. I have a strong conviction that the Rector’s leadership, who is a man of God, will lead with human face so that his administration policies will be the best in the history of the Polytechnic for others to emulate” he stressed.
