2 Year Anniversary: Dr Makoda Hails Governor Yusuf’s Remarkable Achievements in Education Sector 

Kano State Commissioner of Education Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda has disclosed that two years of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf in office is a remarkable journey that transformed the state education sector.

Dr. Ali Makoda stated this while rejoicing with Governor on the celebration of his two year anniversary as the duly elected Governor of Kano State.

In a statement by the Director Public Enlightenment of the Ministry Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru, Makoda asserted that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had proved the people of Kano right considering his outstanding performance in the education sector.

According to the statement, during his two-year in office , Governor Abba had set aside 29.97% and 31.5% of the 2024/2025 approved budget to the education sector, the highest ever in the history of the state.

The statement explained that the government had declared a state of emergency on education as an extraordinary measure that allowed taking bold steps to address critical challenges of the education sector.

With this initiative, said the statement, the administration distributed learning materials to more than 8000 basic and post basic schools in the year 2024, and distribution of 2.8 billion naira worth of instructional materials to public schools in 2025 to ensure conducive learning environment.

The administration had also paid over two billion naira for 125,000 students writing NECO, NBAIS and NABTEB in 2024 and over three billion naira for 141,715 students writing NECO, NBAIS and NABTEB in the year 2025 respectively.

“The administration of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf embarked on a robust approach to infrastructural development which made it possible to invest heavily in more than 120 secondary schools across the state with a view to creating conducive learning environment for both the students and teachers.

” Under this, the government is also constructing one upstair block of four classrooms with two offices across the 44 local government areas, out of which most of them have been completed by now” said the statement.

It added that the administration had refurbished over 70 grounded Girl child shuttle buses to make it easier for students, especially young girls, to commute to school safely and on time.

Other achievements, according to the statement, include the distribution of school uniforms to over 796,000 pupils across the state, distribution of 73,800 furniture to primary schools as first batch and 16,800 furniture to primary schools as second batch as well as training of over 10,000 teachers on various specialized programmes.

The statement prayed for Almighty Allah to continue guiding the Governor and enable him to perform better for the overall development of the state.
