Kano state has stormed Kaduna with a total of 150 contingent ahead of the 9th edition of Northwest Zonal Elimination of the National Youth Games (NYG) 2025 scheduled to hold in Asaba, Delta State from August 26 to September 6.elimination.
The contingent which comprises Male and female athletes, coaches and officials as well as journalists have arrived the city of Kaduna safely.
The athletes are expected to compete in events namely: Football, Handball, Hockey, Volleyball, Basketball, Rugby and cricket.
The acting chairman of the state sports commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Fagge popularly known as FIFA expressed optimistic that the state will emerged the overall winners at the end of the zonal elimination.
Fagge said that the commission had concluded Strategies with a view to ensure the state excel in both zonal and youth games proper in Asaba, Delta state come up on August 26th to September 6th, 2025.
While commending Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the state commissioner of youth and sports, Alhaji Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso for their commitment morally and financially, he assured the athletes would improve the state high profile as far as sports competitions was concerned in the country.
The Northwest zone states are expected to attend the elimination include Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto and Zamfara.
The team event games would hold at Murtala Muhammad Square and Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.
The winners of the zonal elimination will automatically represent the zone in the national youth games proper in Asaba, Delta state capital.
