The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Ajith Kumar, disclosed this on Monday in Kano during a pre-convocation press briefing, ahead of the ceremony marking eight years of academic excellence and innovation.
He said the graduands comprised 180 with bachelor’s degree and 43 postgraduate students who have been found worthy in character and learning.
“24 students graduated with first class honours, 79 in second class upper division, and 77 in second class lower division.
“This year’s convocation represents not just the culmination of hard work and dedication, but the realisation of Skyline University Nigeria’s vision of producing globally competitive graduates equipped with skills, values, and innovative thinking.
“Since our inception in 2018, Skyline University Nigeria has remained a beacon of quality education, enriching minds, igniting innovation, and shaping the future of young Nigerians,” he said.
Kumar reaffirmed the university’s commitment to advancing quality education, technological innovation, and social transformation, adding that SUN remained focused on producing graduates “who are not only employable but also capable of creating jobs and driving change in society.”
The vice-chancellor said the university, being the first International Private University in Kano State, had grown from two to five schools, now offering diverse programmes, including Law, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, Physiotherapy, and Postgraduate Degrees.
He announced that the National Universities Commission (NUC) had granted full accreditation to all programmes offered by the institution.
Kumar added that the NUC had given approval for seven new part-time degree programmes in International Relations, Economics, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Mass Communication, and Computer Science.
The V-C also highlighted some of the university’s recent initiatives to include; the training of over 1,000 teachers, 100 youths, and 50 young entrepreneurs through its Corporate Social Responsibility programmes.
“This is in addition to participation in the World Bank-supported IDEAS Project aimed at developing digital and technical skills among Nigerian youths,” he said.
The vice-chancellor further said the university had inaugurated an HP Gaming Garage and Artificial Intelligence Innovation Lab to promote entrepreneurship, digital creativity, and research among students.
He commended the graduating students for their perseverance and achievements, noting that the university’s continued emphasis on holistic education through activities such as career fairs, guest lectures, technical visits, and TEDx events were yielding positive results.
“I commend our graduates for their perseverance and excellence. They embodied the values of knowledge, character, and leadership that Skyline University stands for,” Kumar said.
He also appreciated the institution’s founder, Mr Kamal Puri, the Pro-Chancellor, Mr Nitin Anand, and other governing officials for their visionary leadership, as well as the Kano State Government for its continued support.
“As we send forth another cohort of graduates into the world, we remain dedicated to nurturing leaders who will transform their communities and contribute to Nigeria’s development,” he assured.
