Ahead of 2027 general elections, a frontline politician and member representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal constituency of Kano state in the House of Representatives Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa has finally returned to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Jibrin’s rejoining of APC ended speculation about his romance with the ruling party and strong relationship with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu against his political godfather Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
His return to APC came two months after he was expelled from the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP).
At a mass rally of hundreds of supporters who had warmly received the federal lawmaker at his Kofa village on Monday, Jibrin declared his renewed intention to reunite with President Tinubu in APC with promise to galvanize overwhelming votes for the president in 2027.
The fourth term member of the green chamber told the crowd supports that his return to APC was intentional in order to avoid previous mistakes he had just has he vowed to mobilize his entire loyalists out of the NNPP.
He added that earlier before the rally he had gathered about 2,000 Islamic clerics from his constituency to offer special prayers for President Tinubu, as well as for peace and development in Kiru/Bebeji, Kano State, and Nigeria at large.
Shortly after addressing his supporter, the former Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation posted a video clip where he celebrated his returning to APC along side the jubilating supporters who, is a chorus acceptance and declaration to vote President Tinubu for the second term.
The lawmaker, through his verified social media handle, told his supporters that he resolved to leave the NNPP and the Kwankwasiyya movement and pledged support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
“Today, in a show of solidarity, I was warmly received by thousands of my constituents in my hometown of Kofa, Bebeji, Kano. The gathering resolved to leave the NNPP/Kwankwasiyya, join the APC, and endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office,” Jibrin wrote.
The former spokesperson of the 2023 presidential candidate of NNPP and leader of Kwankwasiyya movement, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso had fronted several efforts to midwife the return of his former boss to the ruling APC.
Jibrin met President Tinubu at the Aso Rock after which he told journalists of his frantic move to actualize the purported return of Kwankwaso to APC though, exposed stiff rejection of some APC stalwarts from Kano who continued to Frustrating the political reunion.
The supposed plain intention of Jibrin eventually met with expulsion from the NNPP who considered his intervention as anti-party activities and non-payment of membership dues. Jibrin had declared his acceptance of the expulsion and promised to forge ahead with his political ambition through an alternative platform which he eventually unveiled.
