The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested two suspected cattle rustlers conveying a stolen cow in a vehicle.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer(PRO), SC Ibrahim Idris-Abdullahi, on Wednesday in Kano.
Idris-Abdullahi said the suspects, a 45 and 37 year old were apprehended on Tuesday, at about 3 a.m. while conveying the cow in a Sharon Galaxy vehicle with registration number JJN 606 AE in Kiru Local Government Area of the state.
“Operatives discovered that the cow had been tied down and concealed in the rear section of the vehicle.
“The two other suspected accomplices, believed to be the principal suspects, fled upon sighting the operatives and were currently at large” he said
Idris-Abdullahi said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
He said the suspects and exhibits, including the recovered cow and two machetes, were in custody.
He said investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged cattle rustling and identify the owner of the animal.
The PRO said the suspects would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.
Idris-Abdullahi reiterated the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and combating criminal activities across the state.
