The Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Research (CC&ER), Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil, has partnered with the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) on its Plant One Million Trees (P1MT) campaign.
The Director of CC&ER, Prof. Aliyu Baba Nabegu, disclosed this in a letter dated Oct. 8, 2026, addressed to CITAD in response to the organisation’s request for partnership.
Nabegu said the centre was mandated to participate in activities aimed at mitigating the impacts of climate change and promoting environmental sustainability.
“As you rightly observed, our centre is mandated, among others, to participate in all activities relating to mitigation of climate change impacts and ensure sustainability of the global environment,” he said.
He said the centre was willing to partner with CITAD in the campaign, adding that the Vice-Chancellor of ADUSTECH, Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai, had donated 20,000 seedlings as the university’s contribution to the initiative.
“Furthermore, I wish to inform you that as part of our contribution to this important campaign, and to demonstrate our partnership, our Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai, has graciously donated 20,000 seedlings to be used especially in the Wudil area during the campaign,” he said.
The director expressed optimism that the partnership would strengthen collaboration between the two organisations in promoting environmental sustainability.
“It is our hope that this collaboration will lead to more engaging relationship between our centre and your esteemed organisation in our quest to ensure a sustainable environment for the sustenance of our future,” he said.
The P1MT campaign, launched by CITAD in September, seeks to facilitate the planting, protection and restoration of one million indigenous trees across Northern Nigeria within one year.
The campaign encourages individuals, communities, institutions, organisations and other stakeholders to plant and nurture trees while documenting their planting activities through the campaign’s digital platform.
