The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a suspected notorious cultist and recovered a locally made pistol and a cutlass.
This was disclosed in a statement on Monday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John.
According to the statement, the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Effiong Umoh, was arrested following credible intelligence linking him to cult-related activities in Utine Nduong, Okobo Local Government Area and its environs.
“Operatives of the command immediately swung into action and arrested the suspect. A search conducted on him revealed a hidden firearm and cutlass,” John said.
She added that a discreet investigation is ongoing to track down other members of the gang and recover additional weapons.
