Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has expelled 60 students from various departments over examination malpractice.
The decision was taken at the university’s 43rd statutory Senate meeting held on Jan. 7, 2026, after consideration of reports and recommendations from relevant academic and disciplinary committees.
The expulsions were announced in the university’s official Weekly Bulletin published on Friday and sighted on Saturday.
According to the bulletin, the affected students were found guilty of violating the institution’s examination rules and regulations.
“After reviewing the cases, the Senate approved the expulsion of the students in accordance with the university’s examination regulations,” the statement said.
It added that the Senate carefully examined each case before approving the sanctions in line with existing guidelines.
The university reiterated its zero-tolerance policy on examination misconduct, stressing that strict sanctions would continue to be enforced to deter future violations.
BUK further warned that any form of examination malpractice would attract severe consequences, regardless of a student’s status or department, while reaffirming its commitment to maintaining academic integrity and discipline.
Recall that in April 2025, the university expelled 62 students and rusticated 17 others over examination misconduct.
That decision was adopted by the Senate at its 42nd meeting held on Feb. 26, 2025.
