Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State has launched a grassroots mobilisation campaign for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying the party is strengthening its structures from the polling unit level to secure victory in the polls.
The governor made the declaration during an interactive session with members of the APC Polling Unit Supporters Association, popularly known as “Yan Akwatina” in Kano.
A statement issued on Wednesday by the Governor’s spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the association has structures across the state’s 44 local government areas, 484 wards and all polling units.
Yusuf said the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 would provide an opportunity to consolidate the gains of the Federal Government’s economic reforms and infrastructure development initiatives.
He said the party’s grassroots engagement strategy was aimed at expanding its support base and ensuring electoral victory for APC candidates at both the state and national levels.
As part of measures to strengthen the association, the governor announced the donation of plots of land and N100 million to support its activities.
Earlier, the governor’s Political Adviser, Mustapha Hamza Buhari Bakwana, described the meeting as the beginning of the party’s grassroots mobilisation for the 2027 elections.
Bakwana said the Polling Unit Supporters Association had the capacity to mobilise about 1,122,200 votes for President Tinubu during the next presidential election.
Also speaking, the association’s leader, Hon. Najib Abdulkadir Salati, commended the governor for appointing members of the group into positions at the state and local government levels.
He pledged the association’s commitment to mobilising support for the APC and ensuring victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.
The APC Chairman in Kano State, Umar Haruna Doguwa, expressed confidence that the party would record a landslide victory in the elections.
He attributed the party’s confidence to what he described as the achievements of the Yusuf administration and ongoing efforts to strengthen the APC’s grassroots structures across the state.
