The Kano State Executive Council has approved more than N310 billion for projects in education, healthcare and infrastructure to promote socio-economic development in the state.
The Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Waiya, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the 38th Executive Council meeting held in Kano on Friday.
Waiya said the council approved several projects aimed at boosting education, infrastructure and healthcare delivery across the state.
He said the council approved N238 million for the purchase of UTME forms for students, rehabilitation of Government Girls Secondary School, Hotoro South, and renovation of schools in Bagwai Local Government Area.
“The council also approved funds for the feeding of boarding school students and settlement of outstanding payments for eggs and chickens supplied to schools,” he said.
According to him, additional approvals include the purchase of textbooks for students across the 44 local government areas and the construction of a nomadic school in Tasawa village in Dambatta Local Government Area.
Waiya added that the council also approved the renovation of the Kano State Fire Service Headquarters and Hasiya Bayero Paediatric Hospital, as well as road construction projects in Ungogo Local Government Area, Nassarawa Local Government Area and other parts of the state.
He further disclosed that funds were approved for the procurement of healthcare equipment, environmental projects and a N113 billion mass housing scheme.
“The council also approved Ramadan feeding and youth empowerment programmes,” he said.
