An Upper Customary Court sitting at Daura Road, Kaduna on Tuesday sentenced one Anas Lawal, a mechanic to nine months in a correctional facility for stealing food items.
The Judge, Patience Musa, gave the ruling after the defendant pleaded guilty to the offence bordering on theft.
She, however, gave the convict an option of N50,000 fine while exonerating him from the offence of criminal force as alleged by the prosecutor.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Sambo Ishaya, stated that Lawal’s loot were recovered by the police which included a carton of noodles, a bag of Semovita, pack of cornflakes and fruit drink.
He added that two bunches of master keys were also recovered from the convict with some food items which were later released to the owner.
The accused had pleaded for leniency saying that he is a family man with one wife and two children.
