Minister of Water Resources Inaugurates Farm Implements to Enhance Food Production

The Federal Government has assured Nigerians of its readiness to provide adequate water supply to boost agriculture in the country.

The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Utsev, disclosed this during a working visit on Friday in Kano.

The minister inaugurated farm implements, which included eight tractors and four combined harvesters, at the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority (HJRBDA).

He said the inauguration is a significant step towards agricultural initiatives and boosting food production in Nigeria.

“The renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu is to boost food production and create jobs for the populace in the country,” he said.

“The essence of the government’s commitment to water resources and agriculture across the nation is to attain self-sustaining growth,” he added.

Utsev further explained that the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority has taken a giant stride by assembling a fleet of tractors and combined harvesters for farming purposes.

He commended the President for his support of the agricultural sector through his approval and funding of several projects.

The minister urged all stakeholders to continue working together to ensure that the water resources and agricultural sectors reach their full potential.

On his part, the Managing Director of HJRBDA, Alhaji Ma’amun Aliyu, promised adequate maintenance of the facilities to achieve the authority’s mandate.
