The Commander, Kano Strategic Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mr Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Commander General of Narcotics (ACGN).
The Public Relations Officer of the Command, Mr Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Kano on Sunday.
He said the promotion followed a rigorous evaluation process, including an interview and consideration of factors that affirmed Ahmad’s qualifications for the position.
Muhammad-Maigatari quoted Idris-Ahmad as expressing gratitude to the NDLEA Chairman, Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), for recognising his dedication to the agency’s mission.
“I am truly honoured to receive this promotion and grateful for the trust placed in me.
“I look forward to continuing to serve the Kano Strategic Command and contributing to our collective fight against drug-related crimes,” Idris-Ahmad said.
The statement said with the elevation of the Kano State Command to Kano Strategic Command, it is now required to be headed by an ACGN.
It added that under Idris-Ahmad’s leadership, the command would intensify efforts to combat drug trafficking and promote public safety in the region.
He restated the NDLEA’s commitment to ensuring a drug-free society and supporting the professional development of its personnel.
