The newly appointed Managing Director of the Kano State Zoological and Wildlife Management Agency (KAZOWMA), Hon. Musayyib Kawu Ungogo, has pledged to revitalise the Kano Zoological Garden and boost tourism in the state.
Ungogo expressed gratitude to Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf for his appointment, promising to justify the confidence reposed in him.
This is contained in a statement issued by the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Hauwa Adam.
The managing director also congratulated the governor on his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and urged residents of the state to obtain and renew their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to support the governor’s re-election bid.
In his inaugural address, Ungogo pledged to deploy his expertise toward improving the agency’s operations and upgrading its facilities.
He said the agency would focus on renovating existing infrastructure, introducing new animal species and prioritising staff welfare to enhance service delivery.

Ungogo further stated that he would compile the agency’s needs and submit them to the state government to strengthen tourism potential and improve visitors’ experience at the zoo.
He emphasised that revitalising the zoo would not only promote wildlife conservation but also contribute to economic growth through tourism development.
The managing director, accompanied by directors and other staff members of the agency, toured the zoo and inspected facilities requiring urgent attention and renovation.
He assured staff of inclusive leadership and urged them to remain committed to achieving the agency’s mandate.

The KAZOWMA boss reaffirmed his commitment to repositioning the zoo as a major tourist destination in Kano State.
