NHRC Kano received 60 human rights complaints in November — Official

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in Kano state, on Monday, said it received 60 complaints of human rights abuses in the month of November.

The NHRC state Coordinator, Alhaji Shehu Abdullahi, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Kano.

He said that 45 of the cases had been treated, while 15 are pending.

Abdullahi said that 28 of the reported  cases in the period under review,  bordered on child rights, women and gender.

According to him, 21 other cases were on abandonment of family responsibility and domestic violence.

“The remaining 11 cases are on economy and cultural rights,  labour and physical violence rights “,he said.

Abdullahi said that the commission also received complaints from couples, and meditated on marital disputes.

The NHRC boss consequently, urged couples to be more  patient with one another in order to manage their responsibilities.
