Police arraign filing station manager over alleged N1.5m theft

A manager of a filing station, Toheeb Anjorin, 30,  on Thursday, appeared before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, charged with stealing N1,500,000.

Anjorin, whose address was not provided, pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing.

The Prosecutor, Insp Ayodele Adeosun told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 21,  at about 8.00.p.m, at Jinms filing station, located on the Badagry-Seme Expressway.

Adeosun said that the defendant allegedly stole N1,500,000, property of one Tijani Odunayo, the owner of the filing station and the complainant.

“The defendant sold 1,600 litres of petrol valued at N1,500,000, being the daily proceeds of the station.

“He was arrested by the complainant and handed over to Police for prosecution.

“The offences contravene Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos, 2015,” the prosecutor said.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Patrick Adekomaiya granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum.

He ordered that one of the sureties must be a property owner in Badagry.
Adekomaiya adjourned the case until June 3, for mention.
