Alhaji Bature Abdulaziz, a renowned businessman and community leader in Kano State, has died after a brief illness. He was 76.
The late Abdulaziz, who was born in 1950 in Adakawa Quarters, Dala Local Government Area of the state, was a prominent figure in Kano’s commercial sector and Northern Nigeria’s trading community.
He was widely recognised for his leadership roles in various traders’ associations and business groups, where he played key roles in advancing the interests of traders and strengthening organised commerce.
Abdulaziz was particularly noted for his stewardship of the Kantin Kwari Market Traders Association, during which he consistently championed the welfare and rights of traders.
His contributions were instrumental to the organisation and growth of commercial activities at Kantin Kwari, Kano’s largest textile market.
Until his death, the businessman remained actively involved in community development, business advocacy and public affairs, earning him respect among traders, traditional rulers and other stakeholders across the region.
Confirming the death to journalists, his son, Ismail Abdulaziz, said the family was grateful for the impactful life their father lived.
“My father, Alhaji Bature Abdulaziz, passed away after a brief illness. We are deeply saddened by his loss, but we remain thankful for the immense contributions he made to his community and to society at large,” he said.
He announced that funeral prayers would be held on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. at the deceased’s residence in Yankaba Quarters, Kano.
