Response by Supporters of Rt. Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum (Turakin Rano)
To our fellow constituents in Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure,
We wish to respond to the recent public notice signed by 26 stakeholders from our constituency.
This notice contains misguided accusations and unfair criticisms that, we believe, require clarification.
We respect the right of every stakeholder to voice their concerns; however, we are disappointed by the tone and content of this document, which misrepresents both the actions and commitment of Turakin Rano to our party.
As supporters of Rt. Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, our elected representative, we affirm that he has worked tirelessly for the growth and success of the NNPP in Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure during the 2023 general elections.
Contrary to claims that our leader has acted against the party, his loyalty has been evident through his efforts, which directly contributed to our gubernatorial victory and the election of state assembly members across our local governments.
The progress we’ve achieved would not have been possible without the strong party structures he has actively supported and helped build.
We are proud to stand firmly with the camp led by our party’s founder, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam. It is under his guidance and vision that the NNPP has grown into a powerful political force.
Let it be clear that our commitment lies with the ideals and principles upon which our party was built. In light of recent events, we call on our supporters in Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure to symbolically remove the red cap associated with the Kwankwasiyya group and respectfully distance themselves from it. Our loyalty should be to the party itself, not to any specific faction or individual.
Hon. Turakin Rano is dedicated to delivering fair and inclusive empowerment programs for the benefit of all constituents. We reject the notion that Turakin Rano’s programs have been “lopsided” or divisive.
His focus has always been on enhancing the welfare of our people, regardless of political allegiance. He is here to serve everyone in Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure, not just a select few.
We are disappointed that the public notice failed to acknowledge our state’s highest office, the governor. This omission overlooks the will of Allah, who has chosen Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as the leader of Kano State.
As the elected leader of our people, the governor deserves due respect. Failing to recognize his role undermines the spirit of respect, unity, and integrity within our party.
In closing, we urge our Kano State Governor, His Excellency Abba Kabir Yusuf, to exercise his authority with independence, focusing solely on the interests of the Kano people who elected him. We believe that the governor should prioritize the collective needs and aspirations of Kano’s citizens over any political pressures or external instructions.
Let us move forward with a spirit of unity and purpose, upholding the integrity of the NNPP and working together for the prosperity of our constituency and our beloved state.
Signed,
1. Rt. Hon. Alhassan Abubakar, Former Speaker, Kano State House of Assembly
2. Hon. Rabiu Bala Bunkure, PhD, Former Chairman, Bunkure Local Government Council
3. Hon. Yakubu H. Dahiru Na Dada Rurum, Former Vice Chairman, Rano Local Government
