SUFAYE investment hands over N28.6m expired products to council for destruction

 

A supermarket, SUFAYE Investment has handed over damaged and expired products worth N28.6 million to the Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KSCPC) for disposal.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Director of Public Enlightenment of the KSCPC, Jamilu Mustapha on Tuesday in Kano.

The Executive Secretary of the Council, Dr Ibrahim Garba-Muhammad, described the action of the management of the supermarket as a significant decision.

Garba-Muhammad called on other companies and business owners in the state to emulate SUFAYE by withdrawing  adulterated products from the market instead of selling them to  public.

The executive-secretary, commended residents, companies and business owners in the state for their cooperation and support toward protecting consumers and ensure safety and quality of products in the market.

The supermarket’s Manager, Alhaji Jabir, said the initiative was part of  company’s efforts to ensure that the products do not reach its customers.

He said the management of the supermarket always checks its products in compliance with regulatory requirements and sound business practices.

‎He commended KSCPC for its continuous monitoring and supervision of products in the market, saying that such efforts would contribute significantly to protect public health.

‎Jabir said the company would continue to produce quality products, particularly beverages, while contributing to economic development of the state.‎(NAN)”
