The Rector of the Taraba state Polytechnic Suntai, Dr Amos Danlami Agbu on Friday commended Governor Agbu Kefas for taking over the medical bill of its ND one student, Saanmoyol Paul who was electrocuted by a public cable wire in Jalingo, Taraba State capital, while flying a flag of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday in preparations to welcome Vice President Kashim Shettima to the Taraba state for International Investment Summit (TARAVEST),
Danlami, who stated this while reacting to the incident said the governor demonstrated his love for the student and the entire polytechnic community.
“I want to specially thank His Excellency, Dr Agbu Kefas over his prompt intervention to come the aid of our ND one student who was on Wednesday electrocuted.
When we got the information about what happened, I quickly directed the SUG President of the school to trace and identify who the student was and where he was Hospitalised.
He swung into action and we got to know that he was receiving treatment at Gilead hospital in Magami and when we got there, his SA, Mr Eliya Kefas told us that we shouldn’t worry that government had already taken over his medical bill.
The ND one student is one of our newly matriculated student, from what I was told, he was not even among those mobilised to fly a flag of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to welcome Mr President.
He saw a boy who was flying the flag and he rushed and collected the flag and raised it up and the flag touched a cable wire which led to the incident” he said.
It could be recalled that Paul is a newly admitted student School of Basic and Applied Sciences, Department of Epidemiology and Disease Control of the polytechnic.
But Paul while narrating his ordeal from his hospital bed, said, “I was flying the party’s flag to welcome our Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima. Then suddenly, like a dream, I found myself here in the hospital with this serious condition” he hinted.
The Rector sympathise with the family of Saanmoyol Paul and pray for the quick recovery of student so that he can resume back his studies.
