A youth advocacy group in Sokoto State, the Sokoto Youth Emancipation Front (SYEF), has commended the administration of Ahmed Aliyu and the Sokoto State Hisbah Board following a raid on houses and makeshift structures in the Kwannawa area allegedly used for prostitution and other activities considered contrary to public morality.
The operation, carried out in Kwannawa, reportedly led to the closure of several structures described by authorities and local residents as hubs for immoral activities.
The action has since generated reactions across parts of the state, with supporters describing it as a step toward preserving social order and religious values.
Speaking to journalists after the operation, SYEF leader, Hamisu Sani, praised the state government and the Hisbah Board for what he described as a decisive intervention aimed at safeguarding the moral and religious fabric of society.
Sani said the level of cooperation and support received from residents during the raid reflected broad approval of the exercise and underscored the urgency of government intervention in the area.
He further stated that SYEF stands with residents of Kwannawa in appreciating Governor Aliyu for what the group described as the fulfilment of a campaign promise to protect societal values and address activities believed to undermine public morality and religious principles in the state.
The group urged sustained engagement with communities to preserve peace, social order, and shared values.
