Al-Azhar University of Cairo, Egypt has commended Kano State Government for supporting its educational projects executed in Kano.
The representative of the University Daha Muzayyan made the commendation yesterday Sunday while supervising some projects executed in collaboration with Kano State Government aimed at boosting Islamic education in the State.
Muzayyan who was received by the State Commissioner of Education Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda maintained that 50 students from Kano were offered scholarships to study Shari’a law at Al-Azhar University, and they’ve already been screened to commence the program.
He disclosed that the University had posted three of its competent teachers to tutor Kano students on Islamic courses, adding that ” 27 students of Abdullahi Bayero College of Qur’anic Studies are receiving guidance on memorizing the holy Qur’an using different Qira’a “
Radah Muzayyan pledged for continued collaboration with Kano State Government in their effort to strengthen the propagation of islamic education in the state.
He however congratulated Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his two years in office, describing the administration as education friendly government that initiates and implements many education policies in the state.
The State Commissioner of Education Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda represented by the Director Arabic and Islamic Studies Department Safiyanuu Abubakar thanked the management of Al-Azhar University for collaboration.
Dr. Ali Makoda said the administration of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf is doing everything possible to improve the standard of Islamiyya and Qur’nic Schools across the state.
The Al-Azhar University project coordinator in Kano Dr. Abdulkareem Kurawa explained that with continuation of this collaboration, Kano State will benefit from various interventions of Al-Azhar University.
Collaboration between Al-Azhar University and Kano State Government is a positive step towards promoting education and development in the region.
It could be recalled that recently Al-Azhar University offered free scholarship to 50 students from Kano to study Shari’a law and the students had already been screened to commence the program.
