
A 40-year-old man, Desmond Ojajuni, on Monday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting his wife and inflicting bodily harm.
Olajuni, who resides at Alapere-Ketu, Lagos, was charged with assault, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor , SP Josephine Ikhayere told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on May 15 at Adiatu Lawanson Street, Alapere.
Ikhayere alleged that the defendant assaulted his wife, Mrs Purity by beating her and inflicting injuries in her face and body as a result of a misunderstanding.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes Section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mr Lateef Owolabi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.
Owolabi adjourned the case until July 23 for hearing.
