CP Azare presents N37.2m cheques to families of fallen officers

The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, has presented cheques totalling N37.28 million to families of police officers who died in active service.

The cheques, issued on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, were presented to 33 beneficiaries under the IGP Family Welfare and Group Life Assurance Schemes.

Presenting the cheques on Tuesday in Uyo, Azare said the gesture was aimed at supporting families of deceased officers who paid the supreme price in the line of duty.

“The cheques will help the families tremendously and serve as a reminder that even if their loved ones are no longer with them, the sacrifices they made can never be forgotten,” he said.

He commended the Inspector General of Police for prioritising the welfare of police personnel and their families.

The CP urged the beneficiaries to utilise the funds judiciously to sustain their families.

He reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring that the welfare of officers and men remains a top priority.

The cheques presented amounted to Thirty-Seven Million, Two Hundred and Eighty Thousand, Two Hundred and Ninety-Six Naira, Thirty-Six Kobo (N37,280,296.36).

DSP Timfon John, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, said the initiative underscores the concern of the IGP for the wellbeing of police officers and their families nationwide.
