The Coordinated Arewa Youth Groups have called on President Bola Tinubu to appoint Hon. Nasir Bala-Ja’oji, as the new Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
The appeal was made on Thursday in Kano in a statement signed by the North West Zonal Coordinator Balarabe Abdullahi-Jega, after an emergency meeting of the association’s North West branch.
The group said the call followed the appointment of Mr Nentawe Goshwe-Yilwatda, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
They urged the President to consider the North West zone, particularly Kano State, which, according to them, gave him the highest votes during the 2023 general election.
The group described Bala-Ja’oji, who is currently a member of the Governing Council of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Potiskum, Yobe State, as a renowned youth leader with outstanding contributions to human and youth development in Kano State and beyond.
” Bala-Ja’oji contributions was recently recognised by the Emir of Daura, who conferred on him the title as “The Jewel of Hausa Land”.
“He runs special scholarships for students within and outside Nigeria. He believes in APC’s policy, projects, and programmes, with unwavering loyalty to our dear President,” the statement said
The group further described Ja’oji as a household name in Northern politics with grassroots support, adding that his programmes as a philanthropist were cutting-edge and aligned with global best practices.
“When Bala-Ja’oji is appointed as our next Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, we assure Mr President that he won’t regret the choice.
“His capacity is undoubtedly there, the political will is always available, and loyalty to the President will be his main thrust for engagement and commitment,” the statement added.
