FG’s Commitment to Agricultural Production Will Boost Food Security – Provost

The Federal Government’s commitment to boosting agricultural production will contribute significantly to achieving food security and improving the nation’s agricultural sector, Dr Salihu Salisu, Provost, Federal College of Agricultural Produce Technology (FCAPTECH), Kano, has said.

Salisu stated this at a reception organised by the Academic Staff Union of Agriculture Colleges (ASUAC), FCAPTECH Branch, to congratulate him on his confirmation as the Provost of the institution.

He pledged to upgrade academic activities in the college and strengthen programmes aimed at improving agricultural productivity, saying this would enable the institution to contribute more effectively to food security.

The provost said his administration would also prioritise the welfare of staff and students as part of its blueprint for effective service delivery and improved academic performance.

According to him, efforts would be intensified to expand academic programmes through the introduction of relevant courses capable of promoting agricultural production, processing and value addition.

He called for the cooperation of staff and students in implementing his administration’s programmes, stressing that collective efforts were essential to achieving the desired transformation in the institution.

In his remarks, Comrade Abubakar Mohammad, Chairman, ASUAC, FCAPTECH Branch, described the confirmation of Salisu as Provost as timely and urged him to intensify efforts toward enhancing academic excellence and effective service delivery.

Mohammad assured the new management of the union’s support and cooperation, saying the association would provide the necessary backing to enable the administration achieve its objectives.
