The National Association of Nigerian Students has demanded a full investigation and the immediate removal of the Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Dr. Zacch Adedeji, over alleged diversion of $279 million from the Frontier Exploration Fund.
In a statement signed by Jamilu Hussaini Ebbo, Forum Chairman of NANS Zonal Coordinators for Zones A to F, the students body said the reported transaction threatens funding for education at a time when universities face infrastructure deficits and millions depend on the Student Loan Scheme.
According to NANS, investigative reports indicate that the $279 million was moved from the Frontier Exploration Fund account without the approvals and statutory authorizations required under the Petroleum Industry Act 2021.
“The unapproved movement of public wealth into unknown hands is a direct declaration of economic warfare on the future of Nigerian youth. We cannot remain silent while resources meant to secure public education and national development are allegedly compromised.”
The association called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to “immediately sack Dr. Zacch Adedeji” as NRS Chairman, stating his continued stay poses a threat to public revenue integrity.
NANS urged the EFCC and ICPC to “immediately arrest, detain and thoroughly interrogate Dr. Adedeji and all co-conspirators” involved in the unauthorized transfer.
The group asked the National Assembly to launch an open, live-broadcasted joint committee probe to trace every kobo of the $279 million and identify final beneficiaries.
“If this ultimatum expires without decisive executive action, NANS will activate its structures across all 36 states and the FCT. We will hit the streets in a mother-of-all-protests, picketing the NRS headquarters in Abuja and shutting down regional tax offices nationwide,” he stated.
