The State Youth Leader of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State, Jamilu Ali Kalshingi, has resigned his position and membership of the party.
In a resignation letter dated 31st August, 2026 addressed to the Chairman of PDP, Bolari West Ward, Gombe LGA, a copy made available to our correspondent on Saturday, Kalshingi said his decision was made “after careful consideration” and takes effect immediately.
Kalshingi described his tenure as an honour and promised his supporters he would remain committed to the development of the state.
“Serving as the State Youth Leader was an honour, and I appreciate the opportunity to work with dedicated party members towards our shared goals for the youth in Gombe State. I am proud of our milestones,” he stated.
He, however, explained that he is moving in a new direction that requires him to leave his party.
Our correspondent reports that his resignation comes shortly after former PDP National Treasurer, Ahmed Yayari, defected from the party and joined the camp of All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Dr. Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna.
