
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has welcomed Senator Rufai Sani Hanga and his supporters into the All Progressives Congress (APC), following their decision to leave the NDC Kwankwasiyya political group.
This was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesman, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Saturday.
Governor Yusuf described the development as a significant addition to the APC family in Kano, saying the decision by Senator Hanga and his supporters reflects growing confidence in the party and its leadership.
The Governor warmly welcomed the former senator and other defectors, assuring them that the APC remains a broad platform where all members have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of Kano State and Nigeria.
He urged the new members to join hands with other APC stakeholders and work towards strengthening unity, peace and stability within the party.
Governor Yusuf said the APC would continue to welcome individuals and groups committed to the progress of Kano State, stressing that the collective interest of the people must remain the priority.
Senator Hanga, while speaking at the event, expressed his commitment to the APC and pledged to work with Governor Yusuf and other party leaders towards achieving victory in the 2027 general elections.
The Governor congratulated Senator Hanga and his supporters on their decision, urging them to remain steadfast and actively participate in the party’s programmes and activities.
