Police Recover Stolen Vehicle, Arrest Suspected Armed Robber in Uyo

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command says it has arrested a suspected armed robber and recovered a stolen vehicle in Uyo.

This is contained in a statement issued on Thursday in Uyo by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John.

John said the suspect, Tony John Isaac, 27, was arrested on June 27 at about 7:00 a.m. along Obio Imoh Street by Udoumana Traffic Light, Uyo, following credible intelligence.

She said the suspect was found in possession of a blue Toyota Camry with registration number JJJ 412 GX but could not present any document or particulars linking him to the ownership of the car.

“Upon interrogation, the suspect claimed to have purchased the vehicle from an unknown individual in Aba, Abia State, but could not provide the person’s name or address.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the car was earlier snatched at gunpoint from a 48-year-old man on February 28, 2025, at about 8:40 p.m. along Osusu Road, Aba, Abia State.

“Other personal valuables were also forcefully taken from the victim during the robbery,” she said.

The police spokesperson said the victim was contacted through inter-state coordination and subsequently visited the Command, where he positively identified the vehicle and presented valid proof of ownership.

She said the victim had expressed appreciation to the police for their swift action and professionalism that led to the recovery of his vehicle.

John reiterated the Command’s commitment to intelligence-driven operations and proactive policing to ensure a safer society.
