Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritising human capital development as a key pillar of governance through sustained investment in education, skills acquisition, youth empowerment and job creation.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Wednesday.
The Governor made the commitment on Wednesday while inaugurating the Inter-Agencies Taskforce on Drug Abuse and Trafficking at the Ante Chamber, Government House, Kano.
Governor Yusuf said his administration’s renewed focus on human capital development is aimed at equipping young people with relevant knowledge, practical skills and economic opportunities that will enable them to become self-reliant, productive and active contributors to the socio-economic development of Kano State.
He explained that the fight against drug abuse and other social vices must be complemented by deliberate investment in education, vocational training, entrepreneurship and youth empowerment programmes to tackle unemployment and give young people a brighter future.
According to the Governor, sustained investment in human capital will create employment and business opportunities for thousands of youths, reduce idleness, discourage criminality and strengthen the state’s economic growth.
Governor Yusuf stressed that no meaningful and sustainable development can be achieved without investing in people, noting that building a skilled, educated and economically empowered population remains central to his administration’s vision of a prosperous Kano State.
He expressed appreciation to the people of Kano State for their continued support, cooperation and confidence in his administration, describing their solidarity as a major source of inspiration in the implementation of people-centred policies and programmes.
The Governor appealed to residents to sustain their support and prayers, assuring them of his administration’s unwavering commitment to implementing initiatives that promote inclusive development, expand opportunities for young people, stimulate economic growth and ensure lasting peace and prosperity across the state.
